What we had to fear from this man was not his deeds,

The revolt should not have started in Berlin,
but in the West.
What could have we have hoped to achieve by this?

Only, in the end,
that the expected forcible American and British
occupation of Germany would have become an unopposed 'march in'
that the air attacks would have ceased,
and the Americans and British would have
kept the Russians out of Germany.

As for Hitler?
